The EUNIVERSE project aims at improving students’ mobility and integration by implementing European values and civic engagement initiatives into learning activities that boost student skills and intercultural understanding.
The learning activities being devised by the project are challenge-based. They aim to empower students, by getting them more involved in campus life and their institutions. In time students will become instrumental in developing and diffusing an inclusive and international mindset. The consortium also believes that the implementation of EU values is bound to impact the institutional environment of students and staff, by building structural change tools, the project wants to make change happen, on an individual as well as collective basis, and make the “EUNIVERSE” spirit flourish in educational institutions in Europe!
The University of Poitiers coordinates the project consortium and gathers 5 EU universities (Granada in Spain, Jagiellonian in Poland, Cologne in Germany, Pavia in Italy and Utrecht in The Netherlands), and 2 associated universities (Edinburgh in Scotland and Lviv in Ukraine) as well as the Erasmus Student Network and the Coimbra Group.
Goals
The objectives of the EUniverse project are.
European values and civic engagement learning
Designing and testing a semester course for Bachelor students on “Openness and Inclusivity Impact”, where key European Values and civic engagement are put into practice in the life of an education institution (HEI).
Stakeholders’ engagement
Designing and implementing methodology to boost structural change in Higher Education Institutions by engaging mobility stakeholders networks.
Students’ empowerment
Guiding welcome & integration activities to ensure they empower students' personal and professional development.

Creation of a Network of Ambassadors
Launch of ambassador networks in each partner institute and mapping of potential case studies and topics to be solved for the inclusion of international students and refugees.
June 2026
Recommendations to include EU values in Quality Standards
Production of guidelines on the best practices and quality standards that are needed to establish networks within HEIs to implement structural change and raise the level of inclusion of international students.

Final Conference in Granada
Launch of a wide project dissemination strategy on the project outcomes and recommendations to include integration issues as a quality standard in the Erasmus+ programme and meeting of Ambassadors.

Methodology for Structural Change
Production of a methodology to set up a peer-leaning community of multiple mobility stakeholders and to implement structural change in HEIs through a better understanding of EU values.

Launch of the EUniverse survey
The E+ EUNIVERSE project, rooted in European values and civic engagement, strives to improve institutional frameworks for international student mobility, emphasizing inclusion, perseverance, and success. By facilitating exchanges among mobility stakeholders, including students themselves, the project aims to nurture an environment conducive to the adoption and implementation of best practices within higher education institutions and beyond. Within this context, one of the first challenges the EUNIVERSE consortium wants to tackle is that of better integrating international students into local student life. This implies defining what integration is for students and institutions, recognizing the several internal and external barriers that might be hindering full integration, identifying if research has been carried out on the topic and if best practices, innovations and projects dedicated to analyzing and/or solving this issue exist in European or international institutions.
To gather insights into individual or institutional perspectives and ideas regarding this challenge, we invite you to participate to one of the following EUNIVERSE surveys:
International Relations Staff
We invite you to share insights in this survey on integration challenges for students. Your perspectives will shape strategies to foster a more inclusive environment; potential research, studies or best practices will help stakeholders analyze their own contexts and situations. Your contribution will help the EUNIVERSE consortium shape methodologies and workshops that could be used in diverse fields of education to advance the issue of integration of international students within European institutions.
Students
Whether you are a local or international student, we invite you to share your views and experiences on integration challenges you face and ideas for improvement that you would like to suggest. Your contribution will guide initiatives to create workshops based on the needs you have expressed, to enhance the student experience in European institutions and to promote cross-cultural understanding, fostering a more cohesive and welcoming student community.
The results of the survey will be analyzed and shared on EUNIVERSE website and through several channels of communication. Follow us on social media to be informed about the results.
